This is not a competition, I just want to know if you know your animals. So until my next update I will talk to you later.
Hello my friends of the internet! Today I am giving you and update on what will be appearing on the site. I will be making 4 post of a frog or toad and you have to guess what it is it will have information about this frog or toad but the name will be cut out and you will have to write your answer in the comments of that post.

Honey Bees are a well known insect, but only seven species are recognized by people. There are over 20,000 known species of Bees! There are 3 main jobs in the hive which are Queen, Drones, and Workers. Drones take 24 days to develop. They don't have stingers, and have large eyes to find Queens during mating season. Workers typically take 21 days to develop. There are over 60,000 Worker Bees in a hive! The Worker are all females. The Workers job is to take care of the young, find nectar, protect the hive, and to make honey! There's only one Queen in the hive and she is the one who gives birth to all the other bees the Workers and the Drones which the queens mate with. Over the queens life(5 years) every day a queen can lay 2000 eggs and over her life she will lay over 1,000,000(1 million) eggs and over!
The process of making honey is a long and hard process. If you were a bee at human size, working all by yourself. You would only make have made 2 teaspoons of honey by the time you graduate college! Imagine you are a small little Honey Bee who is waiting for another bee to return and tell you where to go. Suddenly another bee comes flying in and starts dancing. "What is he doing?" Well, this bee is telling you how to get to a patch of flowers. Bees communicate by dancing in different patterns to tell other bees how to get there. After the bees get to the flowers and collect nectar(a sweet liquid in flowers) they come back to the hive to fill their honey combs. They place the nectar in honey combs. While those bees go out and collect more nectar, other bees start to stir the nectar with their tongues and fanning it with their wings. After a awhile, the sweet nectar will turn into another sweet liquid, we all know as honey. So the next time you see a bee and think you should kill it, think again because that little bee is just one in a million others just trying to make some of the sweet stuff. Hey everyone! Sorry I have been gone I was taking a break, but now I am back ready to show you what I have been working on. First, you can see that the theme has changed the reason for that is because I accidentally changed it from what it originally looked like so I changed it, sorry for those of you who liked it.
Second, I have been working on a new site that is about history! My first post is about Albert Einstein, and when you look at that you can comment and give me more questions about him and give me more ideas for blog post. So, once again I am very sorry for being gone and enjoy my new posts! P.S. For my absence I have made a animal post about Honey Bees. ENJOY!!!! -RYAN K. Dinosaurs are related to birds the feathered friends we see in are every day life, but just imaging 70 million years ago, the largest flying dinosaurs glided throw are skies and that animal was the Quetzalcoatlus. The Quetzalcoatlus was not riley a dinosaur it was actually a flying reptile. Quetzalcoatlus from tail to tip of it's beck is 36ft to 39ft long and has a wing span of 33ft to 36ft long making it the biggest flying animal to ever live! The Quetzalcoatlus was basically the giant aircraft of the late cretaceous. Quetzalcoatlus was probably a predator, scientist think it hunted fish on the ancient coasts and when it was inland it hunted baby dinosaurs or smaller dinosaurs.
The Dinosaurs died out over 65 million. Scientist made 3 different periods in the dinosaur age this 3 periods are part of the Mesozoic era. A dinosaur that was said to be the biggest reptile to ever live was the Tyrannosaurus. T-rex didn't riley live in the Jurassic period it riley lived dering the cretaceous period. Tyrannosaurus was 42ft long from the tip of it's tail to the tip of it's snout and weighed 7.5 tons! The picture above is a drawn sketch of what a Tyrannosaurus would look like in the Mesozoic era. Tyrannosaurus was probably one of the most terrifying animal that ever walked they earth. But T-rex could have been overtaken by larger animals or if it was injured by an animal it's hunting could fight back and injure the T-Rex. Then the Tyrannosaurus would probably ether heal the wound naturally or die from a lose of blood or have a Brocken bone and die of starvation.
The Frog Fish is a strange, but amazing reef dwelling fish. The Frog Fish can be found in most subtropical and tropical seas and oceans. The Frog Fish has evolved it's front fins into legs which they use to walk along the seafloor. Frog Fish use their many different colors to blend in with the coral reef habitat.
The most amazing thing about the Frog Fish is the way they hunt. Frog Fish use a form of hunting called ambush hunting. Many Frog Fish like this one in the photo above have evolved special lures that look like worms, twigs, feathers, etc.. Using it's camouflage it stays hidden almost motionless, acting like a piece of coral. When the Frog Fish spots a fish it starts flickering it's lure to make it look like it's an animal. When the fish comes close enough, the fish vanishes. This is because the Frog Fish swallowed him whole! The Frog Fish opened a gigantic mouth which sucks in water along with the fish. This is called a "strike". The Frog Fish has a 6 milliseconds strike. This is the fastest strike in the animal kingdom. They can even swallow fish larger then they are! The Frog Fish is closely related to the Angler Fish, Goose Fish, and Toad Fish. All of this fish use the same techniques as the Frog Fish. The Strawberry Poison Dart Frog is a small, but deadly Amphibian. The Strawberry Poison Dart Frog lives in Central America. The Strawberry frog doesn't make it's own poison. Instead, it eats insects like ants and other insects that are poisonous which it then secretes the poison out of it's skin. With most poisonous animals, only one part of the animal is poisonous. With the Strawberry Frog, the back of the frog is poisonous.
These native people of Central America have used the Strawberry Frog for thousands of years. They use the frogs for their poisoned darts. First, they captured the Frogs (very carefully). Then they take a dart and rub it on the Frogs back. Then, they were ready to kill an animal. The Red Bellied Piranha or Red Piranha is a species of Piranha native to South America. It is found in the Amazon river. Red Piranhas are omnivorous that feed on insects, worms, crustaceans, and fish. This is a social fish that lives in large groups called schools. If you look closely you can see a white line in the middle of it's body going from the gill cavity to the tail. This is called the lateral line. That's how they are able to swim in groups of hundreds, and if you get a large school they make great aquarium fish.
Red Bellied Piranhas have a reddish tinted belly when full grown and the juveniles are a silver color with black spots. Red Bellies grow to a maximum of 13 in, and weight of 7.7 pounds. The rest of the body is gray with silver-flecked scales. Red Bellied Piranha are typically found in white water rivers, such as the Amazon River Basin. There are some in lakes and streams too. A lot of the time they live in flooded forest like the ones in the Brazilian Amazon during the rainy season. Female Piranhas can lay around 5000 eggs! The eggs are layed in newly submerged vegetation. The weeds are made into a nest by the males. This is the reason way Piranhas attack People because the males protect the eggs until they hatch. Meet the Dumbo Octopus, a strange deep sea Octopus. It lives in almost every ocean in the world at extreme depths of 300-400 meters. They have also been found at a depth of 7000 meters! The Dumbo Octopus is said to be the worlds deepest diving Octopus. The Dumbo Octopus is a Cephalopod, along with the other 37 species of Dumbo Octopuses. They grow to be around 8 in long. The Dumbo Octopus gets it's name from the two fins on it's head that resemble ears from the famous flying Elephant Dumbo.
Dumbo Octopuses come in many shapes and colors. The lags of the Dumbo Octopus are around the same length as there body and are sometimes brightly colored. The legs are connected to each other by flaps of skin. This help the Animal swim, and hold pray. Unlike other Octopuses, the Dumbo eats it's pray whole! It has a diet of Worms, Bivalves a kind of deep sea clam, and other small crustaceans. When off the sea bed, they eat copepods a kind of plankton which are natural in the world of the Dumbo Octopus. |
